The short version

BibleVoice is free, requires no account, shows no ads, and never sells data. We store as little as possible — just enough to keep the site working and to count how many people the Word reaches.

What is stored on your device

• A random device identifier (in your browser's local storage) so we can count unique visitors without knowing who you are. It contains no personal information.
• Your reading position (book and chapter), so the reader opens where you left off. This never leaves your browser.

What we store on our servers

• Visit counts: the random device identifier with the date, to count unique visitors per day — the "shared with X people today" number on the home page.
• AI usage counts: when you talk with the AI guide, we record that a request happened (device identifier and network address) to enforce fair-use limits that keep the guide free for everyone. We do not store your conversation.

The AI guide

When you send a message to the AI guide, your message (and the recent messages of that conversation) is processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate the answer, grounded in Scripture. Conversations are not used to identify you, are not stored in our database, and are not used for advertising. Don't include personal details you wouldn't want processed — the Word doesn't need them. 🕊️

Audio

Chapter audio is streamed from the free HelloAO Bible API (audio.bible.helloao.org). Your browser requests the audio file directly from that service when you press play.

What we don't do

• No accounts, no passwords, no emails collected.
• No advertising, no trackers, no analytics scripts from third parties.
• No selling, renting, or sharing of any data with anyone.

Your choices

Clearing your browser's site data removes the device identifier and your reading position. The site keeps working fully without them — you'll simply count as a new visitor.
